On September 21st the first Sister City Dialogue took place as a digital event on the topic Tourism in Kiel & San Francisco – Impressions from the Sister Cities.

The event format was jointly organized by The Bay Areas e.V. and its sister association in San Francisco, the San Francisco Kiel Sister City Committee, in order to intensify the partnership between Kiel and San Francisco and to offer opportunities for intercultural exchange even in times of the pandemic.

The Sister City Dialogue was preceded by a video contest that motivated people from Kiel and San Francisco to share their personal favorite spot in a short video. A jury of experts selected the best videos from both cities and the best-of image film was one of the highlights of the event.

In addition, there was an exciting exchange between the experts – Uwe Wanger from Kiel Marketing e.V. and Hubertus Funke from the San Francisco Travel Association – on current developments, opportunities and trends in both twin cities. The event was moderated by the NGIO, represented by Kristin Asmussen.
